Hercules and the Erymanthian Boar

High on snowy Mount Erymanthus lives a wild boar as big as a bull, with bristles like spikes and tusks like curved swords. King Eurystheus wants it brought to him alive. On the way, Hercules visits his friend Pholus the centaur, and a jar of wine brings the whole herd of centaurs galloping through the forest… with a sad accident that ends among the stars. Then comes the great chase through the deep mountain snow.

The fourth of twelve bedtime tales that follow the real Greek myths of the Twelve Labours of Hercules, told in simple words for children aged 5 to 8, with a calm narrator, soft forest and mountain sounds and a quiet ending for sleep.
