Near the little town of Nemea lives a great golden lion, so grumpy that nobody in the valley can sleep. Hercules, the strongest boy in the world, is sent to bring back peace and quiet. But he doesn't shout or fight. He sits down, speaks softly... and discovers why the lion is so grumpy.
A soothing bedtime tale for the youngest listeners, aged 3 to 5, inspired by the Greek myth of Hercules and the Nemean lion. Strength is good, but kindness is better. No scary parts and no fighting, with a calm, sleepy ending.
This is a gentle, freely retold version for little ones. For the real myth, told for children aged 5 to 8, see “Hercules and the Nemean Lion” in our Twelve Labours series.
